The ARTEF gallery was founded in 2004 and is specialized in fine art photography exploring from vintage photography 1900 – 1950 to contemporary.

ARTEF’s focus is on leading Swiss photographers of the 20th century. Since its inception the gallery has built the world largest collection of Swiss photography.
Beside Swiss photographers the gallery has a fine selection of international masterworks.
Active on both the primary and secondary market, ARTEF Gallery has established a leading reputation for promoting and exhibiting the work of Swiss artists, including Hans Baumgartner, Werner Bischof, René Burri, Hans Finsler, Emanuel Gyger, Emil Meerkämper, Andreas Pedrett, Gotthard Schuh, Albert Steiner, Jakob Tuggener and Sabine Weiss among others.
ARTEF Gallery is dedicated to preserving the legacy of artists through its representation of artist estates, including Edward Quinn Archive, Jean-Pascal Imsand, Gotthard Schuh and Archivio Fotografico Xanti Schawinsky.
The gallery acts as a consultant to major museums and public institutions and advises private and corporate collections. It actively documents the work of its artists through publications and stages research talks.
ARTEF provides value in quality and selection to collectors in Switzerland and worldwide. We help the beginning collector and we assist the experienced connoisseur and institutional collector. Over 1500 (October 2018) images comprise the gallery collection. Our knowledgeable staff is always available to guide clients through our vast collection or to find rare works through our international network.
